The first issue of The Warehouse Standard came out in March 2022 with a print run of sixty and a cover price of "whatever you have." It covered the rezoning of the warehouse district with the obsessive care that only unpaid labor can produce.
Issue by issue, it documented the meetings the daily papers skipped: the variance hearings, the parking studies, the one councilmember who asked the question nobody else thought to ask. Its circulation never exceeded four hundred copies.
When the rezoning passed, the Standard didn't declare victory or defeat. It printed the full 61-page text of the ordinance, annotated by hand, and called it "the issue you'll actually need."
This spring, the city library acquired the complete archive. It belongs there.
